Competition Council is an autonomous administrative body aimed at protecting and stimulating competition in order to ensure a normal competitive environment, with a view towards the consumers’ interests.
Competition Council’s role has two major dimensions: a corrective dimension – restoring and maintaining a normal competitive environment and a preventive dimension – monitoring markets and observing the behaviour of the actors participating in such markets.

Recently opened investigations

08.01.2010 - Competition - Ex-officio investigations - According to the Order no. 483/22.12.2009 issued by the President of the Competition Council, an ex-officio investigation has been started, aiming a possible infringement of Article no.15 provision of the Competition Law no. 21/1996, republished, by SC PRO TV SA through the acquisition of sole control over SC SPORT RADIO TV MEDIA SRL.

21.12.2009 - Competition - Ex-officio investigations - According to the Order no. 477/17.12.2009 issued by the President of the Competition Council, the investigation started by Order no. 456/02.12.2009 was extended regarding to all the distributors of S.C. S&A PARFUM DISTRIBUTIONS S.R.L.

18.12.2009 - Competition - Ex-officio investigations - - According to the Order no.456/02.12.2009 issued by the President of the Competition Council, an investigation has been started, aiming a possible infringement of Article no.5 (1) provision of the Competition Law no. 21/1996, republished, by S.C. S&A PARFUM DISTRIBUTIONS S.R.L. and S.C. MEDUSA MULTI DISTRIBUTIE S.R.L., on the retail market of “D&P Perfumum” perfumes.

09.11.2009 - Competition - Ex-officio investigations - By Order no. 407/09.11.2009 issued by the Competition Council President an ex-officio investigation was initiated having as object the possible infringement of art. 5 par. (1) provisions from the Romanian Competition Law no. 21/1996, republished and of art. 81 par. (1) from the Treaty establishing the European Community by SC Orange România SA, SC Vodafone România SA, SC Cosmote Mobile Telecommunications SA and the undertakings involved in their distribution chain, on the market for prepaid products.

09.11.2009 - Competition - Complaints/Requests - Following a complain the Competition Council was initiated an investigation, by Order no. 406/09.11.2009 issued by the Competition Council President, having as object the possible infringement of art. 5 par. (1) provisions from the Romanian Competition Law no. 21/1996, republished and of art. 81 par. (1) from the Treaty establishing the European Community by SC Orange România SA and its distributors on the market for prepaid products.
